Rubaya Tea Garden
Rubaya Tea garden is located in the Western Province, 145 km away
from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. The tea fields are situated
on the slope of the Congo-Nile peak at an altitude varying between
2.300 and 2600 m above sea level in the districts of Ngororero/Nyabihu.
The cultivated mature tea extent is 647 hectares.
The plots of the tea farmers total up to 342 hectares.
The tea plantations are located at high altitudes on very fertile volcanic
soils. The well managed beautiful tea fields are spread out over
several hills. 350 hectares of well
grown fuel wood plantations are available in Rubaya
Climatic conditions.
Climatic conditions in Rubaya are similar to Nyabihu. Monsoonal rains are accompanied by strong winds.
Extension of the tea unit
Extensive planting of new tea is already underway. Tea small holders too have begun expanding their tea plots.
The tea factory is fully developed with modern machinery & extensions to the factory building to cater to the increased intakes
of green leaf.
